What I Am _ _ ♯poetry
To hurt;
hit
maul
I am a wall.
To break;
hack
terrify
I am the sky.
To annihilate;
shoot
spear
I am the air.
To exist
amidst
y’all;
I must be all.
“What I Am” is a reflection on the layered identities one must wear to survive in a world of conflict, expectation, and pressure. Each element—wall, sky, air—represents a different kind of presence or defense. The final stanza unites them all, suggesting that to simply exist among others, one must embody contradiction: strength, invisibility, reach, and resistance. It’s a quiet reckoning with what it means to endure.
