On Amazon – My First Poetry Collection

Have You Read My Poetry Collection Birds See Things?

Birds See Things by Imole Olusanya

If you’ve been following my work for a while, chances are you’ve come across my poetry collection, Birds See Things, which is available on Amazon.

This collection has quietly made its way into the hearts of readers who love thoughtful, layered, and emotionally rich poetry. And if you haven’t read it yet, consider this your invitation to explore the journey within its pages.

  • What’s Inside?

Part One contains 36 poems that touch on life, lifestyle, loss, survival, nature, and satire. These poems are not just words strung together, but expressions of everyday struggles, philosophical musings, and social observations.

In “Guile,” I explore the deceptive charm some wear like perfume, while “A Penny for the Gallows” questions society’s tendency to punish the poor and excuse the powerful. “Birds See Things”, the title poem, takes the perspective of an observant bird and reveals the ugliness and irony in human behaviour. Poems like “The Tree That Bore Me” and “I Will Rise Again” speak to legacy, resilience, and rebirth.

Part Two includes 14 poems on love, betrayal, and nature; all deeply emotional and introspective. “Oh My Love!” is a romantic ode that captures infatuation in poetic metaphors, while “A Divorcee's Parting Words” is a raw portrayal of emotional wounds masked by past affection. Poems like “The Sky and the Sea” and “By Their Call We Live” reflect my love for nature and its quiet wisdom.

  • Why This Book Matters

We live in chaotic times. Sometimes, poetry is the only space where contradictions can co-exist; hope and despair, silence and rage, beauty and brokenness. With Birds See Things, I wanted to create a collection that embraces complexity, questions norms, and finds softness even in satire.

As you read, you may laugh at the satire, nod in agreement with the philosophy, or pause to feel the weight of certain lines. That’s the power of poetry. And I hope Birds See Things brings that experience to you.
