Logline

When a struggling young man seeks help from his estranged wealthy uncle to save his dying mother, he’s met with cruelty — but after a shocking tragedy and an unexpected offer, he’s pulled into the opulent world of “the haves,” where survival means swallowing pride, enduring humiliation, and guarding his heart from love he can’t afford.


Synopsis

Ebuka is a devoted son barely holding his world together. With his mother critically ill and his sister Oluchi relying on him, he swallows his pride and turns to his wealthy uncle, Chief Odum, only to be shunned and humiliated. When all hope seems lost, Chief Odum unexpectedly pays for the surgery, but just as light breaks through the darkness, Oluchi is struck by a speeding car outside the hospital.

As his mother dies and Oluchi’s life now hangs in the balance, Ebuka spirals into desperation. Another plea to his uncle ends in rejection. With no other option, he seeks help from Mr. Douglas, a powerful businessman, who agrees to fund Oluchi’s treatment on one condition...

Alade took his eyes off the journal just as two fierce-looking men barged into his room. He squirmed in his seat under their piercing gazes. He didn’t need a soothsayer to tell him something was wrong. He opened his mouth to speak, but his lips only quivered. One of the men yanked him to his feet. The journal slipped from his grasp and hit the floor. Alade winced as the man’s fingernail dug into his flesh. The grip was too tight. He struggled to break free. “Let me go! Who are you?!” he screamed in fright. The other man silenced him with a hard slap. “If that won’t shut you up, maybe this will,” he said, revealing a pistol. Alade froze in fear. In that instant, he resolved to stop resisting. He let them drag him out and bundle him into the taxi they came with. The driver started the car, and they drove off.
